Musician. Accompanist. Singer. Writer. Kirsten Schmaus grew up immersed in the arts – playing violin, piano, singing and acting – and early in life developed a love of writing. She spent a gap year after high school studying to complete her Royal Conservatory of Music ARCT in Piano Teaching, then completed a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. Her foray into that career was short and sweet, while music and writing remained a constant passion. One husband and four children later, she is opening the door to a new chapter of music – singing, playing, accompanying and writing, specifically with three of her favourite musicians – together they are The Kirsten Rae Quartet. The quartet sold out Jeffrey’s Cafe in November 2012, and is looking forward to an exciting 2013. Kirsten regularly leads worship at Beulah Alliance Church, and very much enjoys her role as accompanist for the Rio Terrace Elementary School Concert Choir.

Accompanist:
Kirsten has extensive experience as an accompanist both for choirs and soloists. Three of Kirsten’s four children are string players, and thus she is afforded many opportunities to accompany at various festivals and other events. She is accompanist for the Rio Terrace Elementary School Choir, and in May 2012 accompanied the mass choir and orchestra in the finale of Edmonton Public School’s Night of Music at the Jubilee Auditorium.
